Menopause and sex drive

Has anyone else experienced their sex drive increase during peri menopause?

My periods all all over the place, some months they don't show, and some they do but I'm finding once they've been and gone, I'm just craving sexual contact. Way beyond my 20s and 30s ( I'm 45 ) and I truly feel like I'm the cliche cougar as I'm looking at men and feeling as though I could eat them alive.

Now this all sounds like fun but it's driving me mad and I'm scared it may just push me to do something. I'm married, 20 years, my husband I think is going through the male menopause, decreased sex drive, weight gain and not really that interested.

I read an article a while back about a woman that experienced similar to what I'm feeling now and she absolutely ruined her marriage in an attempt to meet her sexual appetite.
I'm so worried that I'm going to do the same, but haven't done anything as yet.

So just me?

Yes. Mine appeared when I came off the pill which had killed my libido 3 weeks per month. It was absolutely mindblowing and I felt like I was 19 again. Not long before that, I had been thinking how sad it was that I would never feel that again, and there it was!! I partially killed it off again by going onto tablet hrt (see sex hormone binding globulin for reasons).

It is to do with the ups and downs of peri. They can be more extreme. Sometimes your oestrogen levels can get quite high for longer mid month when they are trying to get you to ovulate.

You could take more time together, trips away, concerts etc. encourage him to feel good about himself and take up gym or something.

Meanwhile I can only suggest worthy books and cold showers. Kilvert's Diary is good - he is forever breaking the ice on his bath Confused Grin.
