Menopause

Estrogel and insomnia????

Last week I had the mirena coil put in and started on estrogel. 1 x pump am / 1 x pump pm

My sleep this week has been awful. Go to sleep, as always, no problem, but wake a few hours later and cannot get back to sleep for hours.

Back history: sleep this past 11 months without periods was like this, but not as bad. One of the reasons I sought HRT was to help it. Ironically, in December it improved a lot.

Could taking the gel at night be too stimulating? Should I try am only?

I've even stopped TV and all screens after 7,30pm this week to see if taht's a problem, but it's made no difference.

Thanks

I don't have any answers. My sleep is not good at the moment although HRT did help for a long time and I think it's better with it than without.

I don't think oestrogen stimulates us, but you need to give it longer- you've only been on it for weeks.

It's easy enough to change when you apply it so it's a case of just trying!

Polly, I'm shocked that you don't have an answer for me! :-)

I'm going to try applying two pumps in am and see if that helps.

Thanks

I take two pumps in the am, never in the evenings. Upper arms and inside thighs. Within an hour of using it I feel more energised. Because of that I use it only in the am.

I take 100mg micronised progesterone vaginally at night for 10/30 nights. That sends me to sleep!

Hi I'm new to this site and really struggling. I've been peri menopausal for over a year now and had all the symptoms at first which seem to go. I was on antidepressants for a few months and came off them. Symptoms of chest pain (this has always been an issue since I was 21 re premenstrual) but heart fine they keep telling me) and anxiety, hot flushes returned but meds don't seem to be helping this time. My dilemma is where do you start with hrt there are so many from what I've read. I've just moved so don't know my go yet. Any advice would be good. I always struggled with the pill and periods in my youth so I'm not sure how I would get on with it either. Lack of sleep not helping either!
