Estriol Cream ? Anyone used it ?

I have just been given this by my GP - got it home and it is a vaginal cream..bit disappointed as I thought I was getting Oestrogel as I had before from a private doc ...

considering we sat and talked about the dosage I was on with Ostregel I now see that this says one lot a day..

is this going to be messy ?

Luckily I have only got one tube so maybe I can ask him for what I had before which was applied to inner thighs..

Any advice form anyone please ? Thanks.

Ovestin- the small tube of cream - is for vaginal use only, twice a week.

Oestrogel- large canister of 64 applications- is for use on your arms or legs as part of systemic HRT, used only with a progestogen if you have not had a hysterectomy.

It is possible your GP has prescribed the incorrect item.

I had the Oestrogel before from a private doc and though this is what I was getting again...it was perfect..had to come off due to having a Hysterectomy...

It says on the ESTRIOL - apply once a day - for external use only so vaginal is "external " ? Sorry that sounds really stupid...

Actually I have just looked at the label and it says Estradiol 0.06% Gel and this is on a tube of ESTRIL CREAM 0.01% - looks like Boots have messed it up !

Looks like the pharmacist should be struck off- that's a serious professional error. Contact your surgery and Boots.

Yes it was completely the wrong thing - they said that they have to log it.

Absolutely!
Better this than the other way round. Imagine applying Estrogel to your vag!

I've just been prescribed the same, first dose tonight. But after reading the huge list of contras I nearly chickened out!

which one cherrytree ?

I am now back on the oestrogel and it kicked in after about 8 days - the ant crawling has gone, the sweats have gone - I am a normal person again although maybe a bit tetchy ? Not sure is that is related...

It's the Estriol 0.01% cream. I had a surgical menopause about 18 months ago. Haven't had any symptoms other than increasingly painful sex.
It has solved that in less than a week...

I was answering your original question. Were you dispensed the correct drug with an incorrect label, or an incorrect drug with the prescribed drug label?
Either way it's a very serious error!
