Menopause

Could my bladder problem be perimenopause?

Someone directed me here from general health forum. I am having bladder problems, as in, the feeling of needing a wee all the time. No infection. Even passed brown discgarge in my wee. The lady suggested this forum. Just wondered if anyone has any similar symptoms as I have. I am having a cystoscopy tomorrow and a scan on Monday. I'm fearing the worst so really need my mind putting at rest. I'm 40. Thanks ladies. Oh and my last 2 periods have been different, one long one, then a short one. X

When I had this (accompanied by heavy bleeding) it was due to Fibroids, that were constricting my bladder, I always felt like I needed to pee and I did frequently (at least hourly).

Go onto the www.menapausematters forum. There is loads of info I think I told you to go to the meno one but I didn't mean this one. Nothing wrong with this one though but the other one is excellent it is overseen by a gynaecologist.

Oh right, thanks. I had my cystoscopy today. Bladder all clear, but there was a very visible lump, he said it was my uterus and it shouldn't really be visible but he said some women have a bulky uterus. The lump was awful and I can only think I have cancer. I am in complete turmoil. I don't know what to do with myself, or how to be normal for my little girls.

It's understandable that the comment has worried you greatly. What are the next steps - have you been referred for the lump to be investigated further?

There should be prompt action unless there is genuinely nothing to worry about. Do you know when the cystoscopy report will be back with whoever referred you? (GP or consultant).

I have a pelvic scan on Monday. The consultant yesterday just said he will be sending a letter to my gp. No time frame given.

Try and keep calm, easier said than done I an having an awful time in the nether regions at the moment, try and keep busy with your children, Monday will be here very quickly, there are many things it could be other than cancer. X

Do not panic ( not easy) but there is nothing to worry about at the moment. Try not to over think things.
