Prolapse and menopause

Help! I've had a prolapse and feel so horrible. I've seen a nurse who diagnosed it (saying it was significant and looking quite horrified) but can't get to see my female doctor until April 9th. Not sure I can hang on til then. Can anyone tell me what to expect when I do get to see her - by which I mean how long am I likely to have to wait for surgery to sort it out? Has anyone had similar problems? I had my second son at the age of 41 and things haven't been right since then but I've kept on top of it with pelvic floor exercises. However, since the menopause started things have got much, much worse, particularly in the last fortnight. Oh the indignity of it all! And the discomfort, of course..
