Hi everyone, this is my first post on Mumsnet - eek! I will join in on the other boards when I get a chance, but just wondered if there's anyone local to me on here?

It's getting to the end of the summer hols and I'm feeling a bit caged in and sick of Spongebob and Hannah Montana!! I'm mum to a boy and a girl, aged 9 & 5.

Hope to chat to some of you soon!

MM x

Hi lissielou, thanks for the quick reply! I love Telford for shopping, although I got lost trying to find my way there last time!!

I won't be able to make the B'ham meet unfortunately Will keep my eye out on here though!

Hi Mrs - I live near Wem (still never mind eh? - at least we have the Sweetpea festival).

Hi TheOddOne. I've not been for ages, but from what I remember of Wem, it's a lovely place, sweetpeas and all It can't be any worse than Os anyway...home to charity shops and travel agents and not much more!

Nice to 'meet' you! I wasn't expecting to find neighbours on here!

Do you have children?

Yes i have two boys aged 8 & 6 . Took them to Oswestry hill fort a couple of weeks ago actually .

My boys seem to like Hannah Montana too - as well as Spongebob obv.

I enjoy Shrewsbury i must admit - are you from round here originally? I'm from London.

Oh cool, v similar ages to my two My girl is 9 and my boy is 5 - I just realised my first post made it sound the other way around!

No, we're not from here originally, it was a bit of a shock moving to a quiet market town I have to admit! And, this is really embarassing but we've been here for 6.5 years and I still haven't visited the hill fort I do love it here though, and at least Shrews & Wrexham aren't too far away when needed.

What is the attraction with HM?! DD is mad on her! Spongebob, I can understand...even though I've seen every episode 3 million times. But Hannah Montana leaves me feeling a bit...odd!

Agree totally - SBSP makes me laugh still but HM??? Still, i was never a girly girl and can't imagine being into it at 12 let alone 35! But my boys love it esp the older one.

There are some other posters from Shrops and we've tried to arrange meet ups times but somehow it never seems to happen. Lissie will testify to this . We're clearly an idle county....

lol, v true. we could try to resurrect the shropshire meet!

MrsMeow · 24/08/2009 21:49

Well, there's definitely a slower pace of life here, isn't there? Apart from on market day

And I know what you mean, I've never been particularly girly and would rather have stuck pins in my eyes than watched HM!! I don't know where my DD gets her girlyness from!

Although I must admit, I do like Jackson Hannahs brother on the show. He might make me laugh. A bit.

Is he another 'true' Cyrus or an actor?

Report
MrsMeow · 24/08/2009 22:13

No he's an actor I think. According to DD, there's loads of Cyrus off-spring (HOW? when Billy Ray only looks mid thirties!!!) and one of them is that skinny emo kid with the weird half smile who sings in Metro Station. I'd sing you the song that's in the charts, but I'd probably crucify it

Perhaps we could come up with a Hannah Montana style character from Oswestry who hits it big in London........

Olive Oswestry....

Mystery Oswestry....

Gemma Wem.....

It doesn't have quite the same ring to it does it??

Hahah! Umm...

Elle Smere?

Lily Llynclys?

Luanne Llansantffraid?

Roberto Ruyton X1 Towns?

We could be onto something here!

LOL at Roberto Ruyton XI - could be a superhero no?

Knockin.........um maybe not eh?

Report
MrsMeow · 24/08/2009 22:38

Yeah, a superhero could be good! Bit of a mouthful for the sexy yet intelligent looking female lead to shout though, when she needs rescuing...!

Haha, we'd best leave Knockin, you're right.

We could call the starlets mum Sheila Shrawardine though?
