Low-carb diets

Is anyone doing low carb, but not for weight loss?

I feel crap.

I don't necessarily want to lose weight, but the food I've been eating is making me feel rubbish.

I have a strange relationship with dieting and food, and can end up going one way or the other quite easily, so I really don't want to go down the road of joining any weight loss threads as they are a bad idea for me.

Is anyone on low carb to maintain weight or just to feel better or for some other reason?

Would anyone like to join me on a non weight loss, low carb thread?

I've just started the blood sugar diet.

I'm enjoying it and I do feel healthier.

Swapped chocolate for dried mango. I actually really like it.

I'm making some low carb bread later, I can post the link if you want it? It looks super easy.

If you like meat, fish and veg you will probably enjoy this too.

We've had a bit of a naughty weekend however this week as I'm getting works done in the house so cooking is not really an option but hopefully it will all be finished tomorrow night and I will be straight back on it on Tuesday.

Thanks becky! That does sound good to me! So, you are allowed some fruit as a treat is it? I'll have a google!

I think you have to limit fruit but I haven't really had any except the odd banana. I have only been doing it two weeks but I have dropped some weight into the bargain.

I've been having nuts greek yoghurt and honey as a dessert and the mango when I feel a sugar craving.

We've made a few curries and turkey mince chillis but just had cauliflower or broccoli rice instead of normal rice.

I've not really missed carbs. Yet anyway.

Sounds fab! Right up my street.

I'm really hoping this makes me feel better and it would be no bad thing if I did lose a few lbs, but that really isn't my goal. I just feel crap on what I've been eating. If I was a horse and I was not right, my owner would be changing my diet, so I'm doing the same.

I don’t do extremely low carb but I eat limited carbs. Oats some days for breakfast, beans in a soup sometimes at lunch and a quarter of the plate at dinner brown rice or other whole grains.)

I eat at least 5 portions of veg a day and drink loads of water. If you stop using bread, pasta and white rice as the bulky, filling part of your meals you have a lot more room for veg! I try to look at what’s in season (and therefore cheap) and find recipes to fit that. At the moment I am queen of cabbage and celeriac Grin

Yes, I get an organic veg box and it's all cabbage and kale just now!

Yes, I think I will work up to that as a longterm plan; eating a few oats or pulses, brown rice etc. But first I need to break a few bad habits by restricting a bit more to beging with.

It’s ridiculously simple but I found this works really well for Savoy cabbage

I made that bread. It's ok. Not anything like bread but with a bit of ham and salad on it it would be an ok lunch.

I think next time I will use half the amount of egg.

Took about half an hour not the 15 mins it suggested.

I've bought the ingredients for that bread becky, as I'm curious! Is it a bit cakey? Just making myself a salad for brunch. Feel a bit better so far! Definitely less bloated and sluggish. Long may it continue.

It was a bit omlettey to be honest.

I'd use less egg next time. It's ok.

I'm going to try almond and banana bread next I think.

Hopefully yours will turn out better than mine!

Here you go.

I substituted about a third of the almond flour with coconut flour and it was nice.

That looks lovely becky. I might give that a go at the weekend instead of the omelette bread...
