Starting Low Carb and Have a LOT to Lose

So I get married next year and after months of saying I will lose weight, starting and then falling off the wagon I have decided to do a low carb diet, more restrictive I know but my theory is when I am left to my own devices I have no self control and quickly fail! So I was thinking, maybe Cambridge, or exante, what are people's opinions.

I have about 10 stone to lose, but would be happy with losing 4 stone at the moment. Everything seems such a long way off. I can't believe I have let myself get this big. I literally avoid mirrors as I disgust myself :(

I have a lot to lose. I would say low carb. Meal replacement is too fast and not sustainable in my opinion!

To clarify, just make your own low carb meal plan, no expensive replacement meals.

What kind of diet would that be? I am crap at doing things from scratch, I am very much a planner. Like I would need to make meal plans for the week. Any suggestions would be helpful? Or point me in the direction of a good cook book that's low carb

Go onto the Boot camp forum and start from there. The current 10 week bootcamp has a couple of weeks left and another one is usually started by @Biwi in October.
All the rules and info are in the spread sheet and on the week one thread which will get you started and you can join in the chat on current boot camp threads and continuation threads until next bootcamp.
Read through the old threads for info and insight.
I started low carb at the beginning of March at 18st 5. I did it then for 3 weeks using some meal replacements which worked but wasn't sustainable.
I started following BC rules from the start of May and am still on it to date and plan continuing it.
In total I've now lost 38 pounds my target is another 4 stone. There are many success stories on Bc.
The first week is the hardest but it's well worth it when you stop feeling hungry and rarely have cravings. This makes it easier to stick to than any other one I've tried to date.
Good luck!

Get the Michael Moseley Blood Sugar Diet book, it is perfect if you have a lot to lose as it gives you a quick boost at the beginning and is backed up by proper medical doctors. You could also try to watch the horizon programme he did on the diet.

You can get it from the library to save cash
