Low-carb diets

Confused between calorie counting and low carb. Help Please!

Hello.

Hope someone can help me.

I'm trying to lose some weight..probably about 1 and a half stone. DD is 6 months old and I went from 8stone 12 to about 11 stone.

My problem is just constant eating through the day and snacking on bad stuff. So biscuits and toast on the morning, biscuits and tea in afternoon, something sweet and tea again! In the evening. Plus crisps. I also don't eat much fruit or veg.
Basically I have a shit diet and always have. It's only now it's finally caught up with me.

I'm using MFP to calorie count and cut out all the crap and also eat less food, less fatty food.

But I'm also trying to reduce my carb intake: bread, biscuits, chapattis (am Asian so we eat chapattis nearly every day!), rice etc. I think this is giving me a big tummy (along with massive c section over hang)

However from reading it seems if you are low carbing you need to eat a lot of fat which would mean a high calorie count right?

So which should I be doing? Calorie counting but eating carbs? Or reducing carbs but eating more fat in the way of milk/cheese?
What is the good fat I should be eating? I have an avocado everyday...

I have never dieted in my life and am so confused!

Help please

Hi if you want a good kick start download the chemical diet. Its only for one week and can be tough but if you stick at it n drink lots of water it'll give you a good boost. Good luck

It really depends for you. Personally I swear by full on low carbing as nothing else works for me in terms of weight loss. If however you've always been slim and just now put on some weight, perhaps you might find It easier to lose weight, in which case some basic healthy eating changes might be enough. Eg the principles of the NoS diet (do you know it? It's by far the most sane diet plan I know). In a nutshell it means:
No sugar
No snacks
No seconds
Except on special days (weekends / holidays / anniversaries etc). Google it there's a great forum for support. NoS doesn't involve calory counting.

As I said low carb is great for lots of us but that isn't to say that it's the only way. Other people (hopefully you too) lose weight more easily.
