I have been off the wagon for a couple of weeks and in the meantime totally gone off meat and eggs. This has made getting back on the wagon very difficult! Can somebody help me please?!? I need some ideas of what to eat!

Fish? Low carb veg soup?

Are you doing bootcamp or a different low-carb woe?

I've been doing boot camp, Fish would be OK sometimes but not too much. Soup is OK for lunch but doesn't feel like a proper meal iyswim?

Tofu? If you drain it, it fries nicely. I do actually dip it in egg before frying then sprinkle over tamari soy sauce (gluten free) and sesame seeds.

Also when plain eggs are just too much, baking them with cheese and spinach is nice.

The tofu thing sounds lush! I will definitely try that - love tamari :) I don't mind eggs in things - its just 'eggyness' that turns my stomach a bit atm.

I've an egg allergy & despise meat so maybe u can help. Although ATM am not very adventurous, I eat veg lasagne with aubergine, peppers, courgette, carrot etc it's delicious and very filling with fewer calories. The usual salads/soups I also make vegeteable (brown) rice and add tuna or salmon, sometimes bacon if the kids are eating it.

I think portion size is key with this type of lifestyle change. I love carbs so it's difficult for me but this seems to work ok when I find something I like and meal plan. Also wraps are great & pitta pockets with a chicken salad & stuffed roasted peppers are quick and filling.

Egg curry is very good. Just make a simple veg curry then add hard boiled eggs before serving. Egg and curry is actually an inspired combination, I think.

In fact, spices generally may be the way to go, because then there is more variety of taste than when you are just having chunks of grilled meat.

What about chilli con carne minus the beans?

Or ring the changes on the kind of meat you buy: try veal (English veal is ok ethically speaking); venison burgers, grouse etc. Not cheap, but ok in small amounts and cheaper if you buy it frozen.

I like making burgers and fishcakes because you can add interest with flavourings, e.g pork burgers with soy sauce, spring onion, Sechuan pepper or salmon fishcakes with lazy lemongrass, ginger, garlic and chilli, homemade beef burgers with chipotle. The possibilities are endless.

Tomorrow I'm going to make a kedgeree with smoked salmon, chopped up hard boiled eggs and cauliflower rice - I'm quite excited to see how it turns out!

ooh you need chippingin - she is vegetarian and doesn't eat eggs

i think she has quite a lot of avocado and cheese...

vegetable gratin might be a good one - like cauliflower cheese or any other cooked veg in a creamy cheesy sauce

there's also a recipe on the bootcamp recipe thread for whole leeks wrapped in ham (could you cope with ham?) and then baked in a cheese sauce

i've noticed that when i go back on the carbs for a few days, my inclination for eggy things goes away, but a few strict days and i get the taste back

If you make creamy veg soups with either coconut milk or double cream they feel a lot more filling because of the fat content, so I'm much happier with something like that for lunch.

Breakfast smoothie of defrosted frozen berries and coconut milk (or blend frozen berries and cold coconut milk for instant ice cream. I usually add about 1/4 of a banana - not low carb but not that high carb in that kind of quantity either and makes it taste nicer. I freeze bananas in chunks for this purpose.

Chopped avocado sprinkled with grated cheese and seeds (either the Food Doctor flavoured ones or plain sunflower/pumpkin seeds or a seed mix is good).

Celeriac tartiflette - does contain bacon but it's not the main bit of the dish iyswim. Cube a celeriac into 2cm cubes and roast in the oven in oil/coconut oil until brown and crispy (about 30-40 mins at 190-200ish). When it's nearly done, fry some chopped bacon til crisp, add a couple of chopped shallots and fry til translucent. Mix the bacon, shallot, celeriac and some double cream together, chuck in an oven dish, put grated cheese on top and put back in the oven until cheese is melted and starting to brown.

There is a good book called the Vegetarian Low carb bible. I used that when i was low carbing as a vege. I soon switched to meat though as I worried about the amount of soy I was consuming. If you don't know why, do a google search.

You may want to focus more on a low carb, high fat diet. that way you lower the protein and have less soy products, but you can have more dairy and non meat fats - avocados are your friend!

Some really appealing ideas here! I have a nice big shopping list now after serving on basically just cheese for the last week! Pay day today so I'll have some lovely things to eat next week!
I'm planning on doing Saag Paneer, crab cakes, Tartiflette, the leeky hammy cheesey thing, A broccoli and Stilton soup and a cauliflower curry, and maybe paneer butter masala too!
I feel quite excited now! I lost my cooking mojo for a while and veggie food is bringing it back I think :)
