Low-carb bootcamp

low carb and breastfeeding?

My dd is nearly 4 months old and ebf.

Before I got pregnant I was eating vegetarian low carb. I didn't do it when pregnant as I had horrendous morning sickness for the first 5 months and could only stomach a limited range of food most of which were not low carb.

I'm about 5kg more than I was before I got pregnant so I'd like to eat low carb again.

My question is will eating low carb affect my breastmilk?

It will be fine Smile

Breast milk isn't effected by your diet. Most important thing is that you're eating adequately to sustain your own health. I breast fed for 2.5 years and was low carb for a fair bit of that.

It's fine apart from the carb flu hit me pretty hard so I think I would ease myself into it a bit more slowly, probably by adding a piece of fruit or something similar rather than going straight into full on Bootcamp. I went low carb at 8 months with no breastfeeding issues at all. Just make sure you're taking a supplement so your own nutritional resources don't get depleted.
