Help! DS is ill and I need to get DD to playgroup!

How do other lone mothers manage this?

I've solved getting her there - a fri-end's DH is going to come and sit with DS (5.5) while I take her to playgroup, but unfortunately he then has to go off to work. So as far as collecting her goes, do I leave DS by himself on the sofa with a duvet (her playgroup is three minutes walk round the corner, then three minutes back again - so less than 10 minutes by himself), or do I get him dressed (he really doesn't want to) and wheel him out in her buggy?

Then there's her afternoon playgroup, which is a 10 minute walk away - so much too long to leave him by himself, but also imo much too long to wheel him when he's feeling so ill. Do I just make her miss playgroup and mither her poor DB for the afternoon?

Times like this you realise the value of not moving to an area where you don't know anyone...

Can you beg another playgroup mother to drop her back? Could you call the playgroup, explain and see if they can suggest someone? (btw haven't forgotten about the trains, have them all ready just haven't actually put them in an envelope yet, sorry)

Cheers WWW. Solved the morning problem! Another mum is bringing her home for me. She has also offered to sit with DS while I take her to her afternoon group at 12.45, but then has to go and collect her DD from school at 3PM, so can't sit with him for that time while I go and collect her from afternoon playgroup. So I've got the same problem - able to take her but not bring her back.

I'm hoping he'll be well enough to sit in the car by then, but if not, guess I will have to try and persuade her to have an afternoon nap instead of playgroup - there'll be fireworks!

You could lie and tell her it's cancelled this afternoon. I don't know if she'd go for that, accept it and forget or if she'd go on about it for days though!

I'm not a lone parent, but I had the same problem last week. DS2 and DD were ill, and DS1 was fine and wanted to go to school. I just had to keep Ds1 at home too, as I didn't want to drag the other two out.

You have my sympathies!
