Child Maintenance issues

Morning everyone
Just wanting opinions please on maintenance! My ex pays £100 a month for our 4 yo and has him to sleep once a week.
He doesn’t however pay for any additional needs such as towards clothes, shoes etc and even points out to me when our son needs new things!
I spoke to child maintenance options and they said I should receive £169 a month for him, (he has 2 other children from a previous relationship also!)
Now I don’t know how I say to him I want the extra money towards our son!? He always tries to make out I want it for myself (ps he was emotionally abusive!) which I don’t i just want for my son what he deserves, but I know if I ask for it he might make my son suffer for it by saying he won’t take him out etc not that he does much anyway!
It doesn’t seem fair I work full time to keep my kids in a house near their school/friends and do overtime for their needs whilst he gets away with a poxy £100!
Thoughts please
Thanks

Don't ask him, just go through the Cms?

I was going to but I worry about the back lash on my son, he’s highly unreasonable x

The sooner you do it, the sooner it's over. He will always have an excuse why he shouldn't pay, or can't pay.

Yes he may react badly but he'll get over it.
