Back to see a LPA next week to sort out my options?

I was all set to go on income support and try to rent a house or flat for me and dss. I'd get HB this way.
But then I looked up how much Child support I may get and it could be £257 per week,dh works for himself and earns a fair whack. I want to do some home hairdressing as I'm qualified so now am thinking will I be better foregoing IS and going on some tax credit plus CS plus an income?
One thing that worried me is if I'm working for myself and fall ill then how will I pay the bills? I'm thinking ahead but I have to as I won't have dh to support me.
I mentioned to dh about CS and he was well pissed off. He thinks I'm just going to stay here I think? Can't imagine me coping without him. I was 21 when I met him and pretty naive.

Just wish he'd think of the kids and how it's better if we try to get on.

thats a lot of child support IF he would pay up of course,£1,000 a month and with some child tax i think you could scrimp by if you are sick for a few days.

hi brandy the boys are 6 and 9. My life is like a soap opera!!! Today dh informs me that he's going to a disciplinary tribunal because of a tax fine he has to pay plus costs. It's to do with his old firm and dh got convicted for the non payment. Very confusing.
Anyway, he was going to pay it back through a huge cash gift from his mum plus some he's borrowing from her. But turns out she can't afford the loan so he has to find 26K on his own. Plus he may end up not being able to work. Why he didn't tell me all this I don't know? I know it sounds like he's made it up but it's true. His mother told me about the remortgaging of the house today. That's what he's going to have to do.

So yet again my life takes a major turn. I just have to ride this wave as I've ridden all the others over the past few years. Looks like it's probably IS for me until I get on my feet?

my son went on msn last night so ive only just read your message. i know its not ideal but is your house big enough for you to be able to literally live seperate lives? seems a bit extreme but in your position you havent got much choice

i mean have you got a spare room for you to have as a sanctuary like with your t.v etc and boys share a room if they dont already? and then just try and keep out of your hubbies way

hi brandy, no it's just a 2 bedroomed house. I've heard about a house not too far so I'll try to get that one. I just can't go on living here anymore. When I went to the dr this morning she told me just to get out and think of the kids and I. I have so much going on that a clean start is the best thing. I'll sort out my finances one way or another.

sorry its taken me so long to get back again, my boy keeps hogging the computer!

i hope it goes well with the house, not much room for movement in a 2bed, thats what im in with my 2 and its very claustraphobic(sp)

financially it sounds like a disaster! if you do have to go on IS then you would only get £10 a week child maintenance if its through the csa.

Hi Brandy, yes I know it's a nightmare with the csa. I need to be on IS though to get HB and coucil tax paid. I've spent hours on the net house hunting and even trawled the local streets tonight. I found one to let, 2 beds, but when I got back and looked on here it's £525 per month. I can probably manage 400 max. So, have had another search online and found one pretty close for £365. The other one I'm interested in is £390. I think HB is £70 a week? It's a nightmare to be honest but I have to get out of here.

if you find somewhere, ring up the housing and they will give you an amount they will give you each week towards it, before you take the house on. thinks its called a determination or something like that.

good luck. my 2bed is £650 a month and nearon £600 gets paid.

for any xenias out there, tony blair keeps my sons £400 a month maintenance so i count that out of the rent allowance

just incase i get pounced on for being a scrouning single parent

you are so lucky, i will only get £375 pcm as they say any more is too excessive! my rent is £425 per month and even that is cheap for here

amazinwoman, the shortfall is the same as yours about £50 so not lucky. its v.expensive to rent here, dont know where you are, but youre getting the same percentage paid as i am

would rather pay the whole lot myself really but even with the exes maintenance it means i would have to leave my part time job ive been in for 8years and be earning about £30,000 a year!!! to BUY a house i would have to earn in the region of £65,000 to buy a place round here

Looks like I've found somewhere. Spent hours ringing every letting agent I kid you not!!! Found one near to here, 15 minutes walk to school or bus to school stops right outside. Viewing it on Monday but have been past on bus today and it's right on the end next to a shop. I rang housing and yes I'll get most of the rent paid.
I don't care who calls me a scrounger. They should mind their business. Never asked for a penny benefit in my 38 years until now. Worked until kids then gave up. I'm aiming to go back to hairdressing from home but want to get boys settled first. They're excited which makes it easier. I'm honest with them as I think it's for the best.
Good thing too is that the bus my sister gets from another town stops near to house so I'll see more of her. It'll be cheaper for her to visit now. She's just found out she has cervical cancer so we can go to and fro easier if I take this house and I can be there for her.
Oh it's feeling good for once Hope it turns out to be ok inside but I'll soon find out.

Fantastic!!! really pleased for you! great you will see more of your sister as well. hope its ok inside, if its not too brill try and view it how it would look with a lick of paint and furniture in there.presume you ex to be will let you take furniture!

cheers brandy, yes broadband is upmost on my mind I can take small sofa which I don't mind as it's in better nick than the big one. Taking dining table and 4 chairs. Bought new beds for me and boys. I'll take kitchen things too and bedding, towels etc..
My niece got a grant for furniture but don't know if I'll be entitled to that? I'll find out more on Monday.
