Recently my partner has left our family home and moved on with a new life. He lived here with me and my two boys, who are 5 and 7, for two years. The split was a joint decision for the best and he has moved back to where he is originally from and we probably won't be seeing him again for a while if ever. I'm really upset for my children as they thought the world of him and saw him as their step dad and love him deeply.. especially my older child. They ask when he is coming back all the time and I don't know what to tell them. We were engaged to be getting married and the children were so excited, how do I tell them that the future they were looking forward to now isn't going to happen. They had a syep brother who they wont see anymore, i am the only famity they have now. I'm not close to my family and don't have any support for them other than myself. I'd just like to know how I can make this easier for them and I how I help them through this. They've been acting out and sad ay school, it's been very emotional for them and it breaks my heart to know they are hurting inside

How was the break up?

Could you facilitate any contact with the step brother?

A close friend of mine still keeps her DS in touch with his old stepdad and step brothers, going for sleep overs regularly. She and her ex are good friends though.

The break up wasn't so bad. We are still friends and are in contact but at the moment everything is still so raw that it is painful for us to be in contact and we both still have feelings. He has asked me to contact him unless nessesary. We have a dog also that I am looking after and debts that we share which will keep us connected but at the moment he is keeping his distance. He struggles with my youngest son as they don't get on but my eldest son misses him madly. That's a very lovley relationship your friend has.. I hope maybe we could have a relationship like that in the future. How did that come about?
