When I had my daughter almost 2 years ago her dad decided he didn't want to be around anymore and left before she was born. Due to being a single parent I signed up for benefits. I have worked my whole life from before I even left school right up until 8 days before my due date. I now feel I need to get myself and my daughter into a routine. She really needs to be with other kids and I would love to get back to work, only part time. I have applied for nursery for her and it's now just a waiting game, I was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation? X

Yes my son is in nursery and I am a working single parent. I imagine there are an awful lot of us :)

It was hard at the beginning (mainly for me!) We adapted, albeit slowly!

How old is your little one? How many days will you be working?

When my dd was of under 3 she went to a childminder at first there were tears from the both of us. But we got into a routine and dd loved it as there was a child there her age. I enjoyed going to work too as I wasnt staring at the four walls and watchin peppa pig. i worked 3 days it worked out as 20 hours.

Dd is now 5 and when she finishes school she goes to a childminder and on a saturday too. I do 4 days now.

DS has been at nursery 3 days a week since 3mo and I went back full time at 4mo. I had to, to keep a roof over our heads. He seems to really enjoy it, and I love picking him up fron in the middle of a crowd of crawling babies. It is very cute! He loves watching the bigger children too. Your DD will be fine!

Yes, I have been a lone parent since DD was weeks old. I returned to work on a part time basis in June after 12m maternity leave, I put DD in nursery for 3 days a week. At first it was a bit strange, the culture shock of work, and the being apart from DD, but it's absolutely fine, she clearly loves nursery...my only issue is I no longer enjoy my job and am having a total life re-evaluation crisis at the moment, but I would certainly speak in favour of routines and time apart etc as it really is wonderful for both of you ultimately.
