Holiday to London with DS

Hi we have flights booked to London on Easter weekend (from Dublin) and were to stay with relatives but circumstances have changed and we now have to pay for accommodation. I have been looking into options as it is so pricey and was pondering staying outside London for 2 nights and then in London for 2 nights. My DS loves trains and saw Watercress Valley Park looks relatively near London. We would also like to see Windsor but I don't really know where would best to base ourselves? I think the railway would be great so would favour that over Windsor if needed. I would appreciate your thoughts!

Maybe try somewhere near Twickenham or Teddington as you can get train to london in half an hour and also train to windsor

There's travelodges in both places

YHA is great esp if just one parent traveling with DC as there are other people around to chat to or just people watch, often board games/games room/pool table etc. Feels like you have a bit of a life in the evening rather than being cooped up in a travel lodge. There are a few in Central London and on outskirts...we have stayed at Lee Valley which is v short walk to train station into London (sorry, you will have to Google which as rushing off to work). Not the cheapest (though have self catering kitchens so can do own breakfast/packed lunch, even heat a nice M&S pizza or ready meal in evening to save cash). You may have to search for a smaller room to avoid paying for beds you don't need. Try calling their customer line rather than the website search alone as I've always found them really helpful. There is discount if you join and recently had 25% off email, though maybe not covering Easter weekend. Good luck!

There are tons of hotels in Hayes, Heathrow, Slough that are nice. Perfect for hopping on a train into London or going to Windsor. They are quite nice too, I work in luxury transportation and a lot of our passengers stay in these areas.
