Things to do with newborn

Hi all, looking for ideas of things to do with a 4 week old baby (although probably won't take her out until she's had her 8 week vaccines). All my friends/DH work full time (& family all live abroad) so I'm looking for ideas of things I can do with my baby during the day on weekdays alone with her. I've found baby cinema (Everyman includes tea and cake! Grin)and baby friendly music on at the south bank once a week but wondering if anyone else has any experience of other ideas for days out for such a young baby. Most things I've found are for older babies/toddlers.

You can take her out and about now you know! Babies dont need to stay indoors til 8 weeks. I do say this kindly btw.

What about just going out and doing the stuff in London you like? Wander round galleries or museums. Go up to the Harry Potter studios if you are into that. Walk the parks. See buck palace. Babies at that age are very portable abd genuinely couldnt give a hoot where they go as long and the milk and cuddles comes along too.

Newborns won't have a clue to be fair. Just do what you want to do (within reason obviously). Get a sling and away you go. Best age to transport them before they start moving and asking and moaning!

Just go for walks and do whatever you feel like. Galleries are good at that age, because they're too young to get bored while you enjoy John Singer Sargent or whoever - enjoy it while it lasts because it won't last long.

I did mother and baby yoga though which was nice.

Try your local sure start/children's centre for new mum groups for a chat. Baby Bounce at the library. And Hoop is good for finding things to do.

There's Bach for Baby too if you like that sort of thing.

I mostly went to the shops.

I have a 3 month old and we go out everyday, I'm very lucky as I have my NCT mummy friends plus family who are either retired or work part time or are on maternity leave too.

As someone said above, babies don't know what the heck they are doing but do take in their surroundings so going out in the pram is great for them even if it's just a walk in the park or along Oxford Street as you do a bit of a shop.

You don't have to worry about the injections AT ALL so go out now!

Remember a happy mum is the best thing for your baby so go out and enjoy yourself and baby will be tagging along.

Thanks everyone! Some great suggestions I will definitely try Grin I should have said in my original post we've got to stay in for a while because baby has medical issues & already been in hospital for an infection Sad otherwise would be out and about for sure already! Thanks again for your suggestions Flowers

I spent my entire Mat Leave in London (moved out after a year)

Solely on my own, it was great. Just get a great sling & do everything you want.

Most museums are free. Nice walks.

My DS (now 4) has done more of London than I have in my 40 years!
