Girton Glebe Primary?

Does anyone have any experience of Girton Glebe Primary?

Its Ofsted was a bit depressing but that was back in 2007. We've seen a lovely house there but as we're trying to move to an area with a good school I was a bit gutted by the report and hope someone might have a more positive actual experience of the place? Or not.

I have ordered the school brochure and emailed the school to ask if we might arrange a visit. We have a little while to go as our daughter is only 2, but we only want to move house once...

thanks,
Jo

Girton glebe primary had an ofsted inspection at the end of last term and scored good. May not be on the website yet. Has improved and is still improving (although was ok anyway, just got marked down for Friday afternoon behaviour). You need to be aware though that it is oversubscribed so if your house is past Wellbrook way (I.e. Thornton road and closer to huntingdon road) you may well not get a place. This year the waiting list is about 10 children.

Nb you may be ok with year 4 as it is the most recent years (ie key stage 1) which are over subscribed.

Hiya, (now posting under a different name) we did visit. In the end we only visited Girton Glebe and Milton Village School and chose to move to Milton.

I didn't think there was anything particularly wrong with Girton Glebe but I just got a better feeling from Milton. The head at Girton talked a fair bit about results and I.T., I was looking for more on the school community and friendly welcome etc.

I thought the school looked a bit tatty in places but the children were friendly and chatty.

Bear in mind though that I was concentrating on reception /foundation stage classes - I'm sure your criteria would be different for year 4.

Thanks for yours! IF we get a house in this catchment area, then we will apply to this school... We have arrived last night and really enjoy it here in Cambridge.

oops, my keyboard is touch-sensitive, that is why I get double letters more than needed...

Hello there, My kid is studying in Glebe. THe parent's comment about the Headteacher was absolutely right. You can't expect any straight forward answers or solution from him. The community is good , though it's a kind of a village, you can expect very conservative parents. The area is developing and new houses are coming up, so hopefully the community will be open-minded about new families.
