The slide in Clissold Park Playground N16 has been stolen!

Around Christmas, I noticed work being done in my 2 year old's fav playground - in the heart of Clissold Park in Stoke Newington. Yestarday, we went there for the first time this year, and were shocked to see the new structures they errected with our tax money - instead of the two exciting wooden structure with a slide in the middle of the big sand pit, there is now a weird one, with no slide, allowing kids to just climb up, use those silly fake binoculars, and climbing down again. There's also an addition of classroom-like charts stuck to it saying things like "what is the weather today?", probably making the first contribution for the toddlers socialising skills...
Can anyone tell me why they took my daughter's favourite slide away? Have more than usual kids been killed recently by falling onto the soft sand? does it's diagonal shape represent something offensive for some religion or sect? Or have I missed some gravely explosive violation of safety or PC issue? I dont know how to start a petition, but if you care as well, please voice your opinion here!
thanks

Absolutely, my 2 and 5 year olds have thrived on the beloved now replaced wooden playstuff since almost day one (slight exageration!). The new equipment doesn't really serve anyone -nothing for toddlers - its disappointing to say the least and I'm sick that I missed the consultation period for the new stuff. Do you think we can change it?

I agree. It looks like something they've assembled from IKEA. What happened to solid, wooden things they had before.

I read in last weeks Hackney Gazette that they will be changing it again due to lots of complaints. The public will have a say a in what goes in its place, they did't mention how to cast your vote though.
