After having been a mum sent passive reader for many years now, it’s finally time for my first ever active post and request. Would appreciate if anyone could help with first hand reviews of Aboyne Lodge school and Albans City School. We are relocating from London to St. Albans and are likely to be able to be in the catchment for both these schools. We were told that Maple is exceptional but seems impossible to get into given how tiny the catchment is. We’re taking a leap of faith moving to the area with no pre-existing ties as it simply seems like a wonderful place to raise kids and a real community that we know we would value. Grateful for views!

This is me hopefully checking if there are any wonderful local mums out there who can help. I am told that Aboyne Lodge is undergoing a big renovation and may have potentially become less popular?? Not sure why that would be the case if the teaching and pastoral care are good. Any opinions from parents in the local area would be super helpful! Thanks in advance

Hello! We are also moving to St Albans in the next month or so and our eldest is due to start school next year. i also am keen to hear what Aboyne is like. The house we are looking to rent, Aboyne is the closest, however I'm not reading amazing things about it. Have you managed to get anywhere with finding out more info? It's so hard to actually find somewhere to live in the first place we can't be picky about the area. Would be happy to chat more because it feels quite overwhelming!

Hi there @leloo
..I didn’t find much luck with responses. It feels like the easiest thing to do may be to get there and speak to people in the local area. We did hear some excellent things about Alban City school but no input on Aboyne. One parent on the road that Aboyne is situated on told us that people have started choosing the City School over it. If you look at the subscription numbers in the past few years, it may suggest that Maple and Alban City School are currently more popular than Aboyne but I am very happy to be corrected.
