living in Canterbury - advice on Hoath

We are currently living in West Malling, a lovely village in Kent. We have just found the "dream house" we have always wanted but its located in Hoath, Cambridge. We don't know much about the village and was wondering if anyone knows whether its a nice place to live? How good are the transport links to London? Is it pretty rural?
