Hi everyone, we're looking/hoping/debating moving to Fulbourn in the near future. We currently live in Crystal Palace with our two young girls and another baby due soon. The move is going to be a huge change for us all but hopefully the right one! We are familiar with Cambridge as we lived there in our early twenties. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the village and can give me any insight/reassurance/advice please. Thanks in advance.

My grandparents live there and I would love to! It is really well served with local shops (although like everywhere they are not as good as they once were). A lovely primary school, dr surgery which has been great with my gps and there always seems to be loads going on. Downside isthat the bus service is a bit crap if you would need it.

Thank you, that's very encouraging. Is it quite an old person's place or does it have a family feel? I loved the primary school when I looked around and have no reservations at all about the girls going there. I think I'm most concerned about when the children get to teenage years they may find it limiting in independence.

Part of Fulbourn is on the Citi 1 route which is a reasonable service. The slightly more rural bit of Fulbourn might be less well served. However, it’s a cyclable distance from Cambridge.

Thank you, do you live in Fulbourn? Trying to get a feel for what it's like!

Thank you for the messages and tips. We're torn between trying to live within the city boundaries where our children will have more independence when they reach their teenage years versus Fulbourn where we get more space and house for our money. Coming from London whatever we choose will be a big change! I loved the primary school when I looked around and the village did have a nice feel. I was a little concerned it's a bit of an old person's place - any thoughts? Also, bit scared about whether or not being in a village means a lack of multicultural influence and less open-minded attitudes. I don't mean that at all to be insulting but coming from a very multicultural part of South London it is something that worries me.

Go for the city. Teens and tweens cycle everywhere so can be really independent. I almost never have to give mine a lift.
