Does anyone bike to Perse Prep with their children?

What route do you take?

Can you leave your child's bike in the school?

You don't say where you are biking from. There is a cycle lane all the way along Trumpington Rd on the opposite side to the Perse Prep. It functions for both directions and there is a crossing very close to the Perse Prep.

Can't say about leaving bike there. It was certainly possible to leave my bike in the school when my son was at St Faith's but security there is more intense now. There may be parallels at The Perse Prep in this sense.

Yes they have a secure bike park with lots of spaces, half of which are undercover for rainy days. You access it off Long Road (which has a shared bike/pavement) all the way down. It's a small gate in the section of road next to the BT building (in Trumpington Road direction). Once everyone is in they lock the gate so bikes are safe and sound. You get through a security gate from the bike area into the main playground of the Perse Prep.

Enormously helpful, do you know if children walking to school can enter through the Long Road entrance, or is it just cyclists?

Hope you don't mind me jumping on your old thread... I was wondering if you went ahead with cycling to the school and how you find the experience? We are hoping to relocate to Cambridge and would have one in Pelican and one in Prep - trying to figure out how we would do drop off between the two sites. I'm not a confident cyclist and the thought of doing it with children fills me with dread. From Google maps, it doesn't look like there's a separate cycle lane on Long Road - you just have to take your chances on the road?

Thanks!

part of the pavement in Long Rd has been a cycle lane since the 1970s and has, I believe been improved since they restructured Long Rd about 10 years ago. However, I’m not sure how much concession to cyclists is made at the Hills Rd end of Long Rd. Just a short stretch that though. The railway bridge is quite steep esp with a cargo bike
