Royal Wedding in Birstol?

Hi Mums! I am visiting Bristol from Toronto, Canada with my 15 year old daughter and we were hoping to find somewhere fun to watch the Royal Wedding tomorrow. Was surprised today to find that most pubs, restaurants etc. are not really showing it - the one I checked (the Social) was, but through crowd might be a bit rowdy. Any suggestions of where we could watch/where there is a street party etc. ? Have seen the visit Bristol site but hard to sort out not knowing area. Thanks for suggestions!

Here you go www.bristolpost.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/best-places-bristol-watch-prince-1568915

I was kind of hoping Cabot Circus was empty so we could avoid it Grin but glad to see you are getting into the spirit

Thank you! I did see that..just wasn't sure where Ashton Court was (and isn't 12 too late to start watching?). I think the Cabot Circus events are directed to little kids? Was hoping for a quiet-ish pub that had a party around this..but maybe Bristol is not that into wedding? My daughter wanted to buy some wedding souvenirs today and seem to be none on offer...

I saw some keyrings and a plate in a Tesco supermarket today - not sure where you are staying in Bristol but if you can find one, it might be worth looking in there.

According to this webpage the Food Festival is also showing the wedding.

Doubletree Hilton is doing an afternoon tea

Hope you find somewhere!

Thanks ladies! Seems kind of weird because in Canada/US seems everyone is getting up incredbly early to watch, holding parties that requure fascinators (!) etc...interesting that people (at least outside of London) seem less into the wedding..

It’s pretty popular in Windsor!

I think they are showing it on the big screen in Millennium Square (next to We the Curious (science museum) and the Planetarium. They usually put deck chairs out for people to watch things like Wimbledon.

No one I know is remotely interested, though.

Just checked - yes they are: www.bigscreenbristol.com

There are lots of restaurants/bars/cafes around if you want to get food and drink while watching.

I think most people who are interested in the wedding will watch it at home, rather than go out somewhere to watch it.

We'll be at home having a baking bonanza for afternoon tea as I follow my mum's example of a running buffet for any excuse big occasion Grin

Not sure where you are in Bristol but I walked through John Lewis (department store) at Cribbs Causeway today and they seemed to have some items for the Royal Wedding - there's one in Cabot Circus as well I think if you are near either of those place.

Hope you found somewhere to watch it, OP!

Thank you! We ended up watching the wedding in a pub, but can't remember the name..had a big theatre room..was just down from the men's barber shop that says it is a creche for men? anyway was a great stop. Was surprised that it was just me and my daughter for a while, a few people joined us later. Loved Bristol by the way!
