Move from Cambridge to Oxford?

Hi all,

We are considering moving from Cambridge to Oxford. I got offered a very interesting job at the science park which pays twice my current salary. However, my husband would need to commute into London around 3 days per week. In Cambridge we live very close to the station and my work, nursery, future schools
are within a few minutes from home. I looked a bit at where to live in Oxford and it seems that there is no station close to the science park which means we would probably have to live centrally close to the station.or is there another station further out with direct links to london? We have two kids under 3 and are looking for an area which has a nursery, primary school and good links to london and the science park. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.
We love cambridge, there is so much going on for children and we found a lovely circle of friends. So an area with a good community feel would be great. We are looking for a 3-4 bed house. Our budget is around 600k but could go up to 800 if that made our lives much easier. For the reason that we feel very settled in Cambridge and finally made our routine work we haven't made up our minds yet.
Would you say that Oxford is very different from Cambridge? Has anyone else made the same move?

Thanks so much for any help!

Hi Rosemarie

Which science park do you mean? The one in Littlemore? Or the university one in Begbroke? I'm assuming you don't mean the science departments in the city centre.

There is a station on the north edge of the city (Oxford parkway) with direct trains to London. The coach service also goes through Headington and lots of people in East Oxford commute in that way.
