What no Meet-ups page?! Film and book group arrangements and discussion will now take place here.

Hi Merton Mumsnetters

Just to say that we've revived our film meet-up group, thanks for lizkt, so if you'd like to join us, do sign up to be notified of film events we schedule in. We're hoping to do the first one in mid-June - please feel free to join the discussion.

We are hoping to alternate the film meet-ups with our ongoing and very active book group which meets every other month (the next one is on 11 May 2017).

Next week MN Local is being relaunched. Therefore all future 'meet-ups' discussion will only appear on the local Talk boards. This will hopefully make communication about joining in a meet-up more accessible for everyone.

Nothing is set in stone - we are flexible. We do tend to meet in Wimbledon just because it's most easily accessible for everyone but we are open to suggestions.

We'd love to meet you so please do come along to meet some other Merton mums and find out more.

Happy to answer any questions anyone has. And if you're interested in organising more general mummy and little ones meet-ups across the borough, please do get in touch too.

Thanks.

Kate

Hi Mumsnetters

Just to flag up that with the new 'Local' redesign, the 'meet-up' pages have disappeared. All future activity relating to the Film and Book groups (and any other meetings) will be posted directly to the MN Merton & Wimbledon Talk Board here.

Just to recap:

  1. Arranged - Thursday, 11 May (7.30pm at HMVCurzon) - Book Group Meet-Up

Discussing London Lies Beneath by Stella Duffy.

  1. Being arranged - ? mid June Film Group Meet-Up

Details to be determined.

I will probably shortly post up individual (but ongoing) related talk threads for these two groups.

Any questions, ask away!

Smile

Kate

Hi lizkt glad you've found us Wink. Yes, sorry, I couldn't quite remember the date details (and the meet-ups pages had already disappeared into another dimension by the time I looked to check).

That was a quick deletion! :-) So no more messages to our email when someone posts in the group, I guess. It will just be here.

Hi lizkt

Yes there yesterday, gone today. Deletions done as the new, redesigned sites were migrated (which is still ongoing as functionality is not yet complete).

In terms of notifications, I would strongly suggest that you click on the 'Watch this thread' link at the top - then you'll be notified when someone posts something up.

Hi Merton Mumsnetters

We had a fabulous meet up last night to discuss 'London Lies Beneath' (Stella Duffy), put the world to rights and have a glass of Wine (well it is nearly the weekend!). We were delighted to welcome three new-to-the-group mums too (thank you for coming @lizkt, @SweetPenelope and @squirrelscomehither). We are always open to new members joining us - you are more than welcome to come along to see if it's for you :-)

We're still planning a film group outing (in mid June) - possibly to see the new film adaptation of My Cousin Rachel. Another book group meet-up is set up for 29 of June, with a view to possibly squeezing in one more ahead of the school summer hols (that may be too ambitious - we'll see!).

Book Group update: we will also be reading <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Trophy-Child-Paula-Daly/dp/0552171638?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">Trophy Child (by Paula Daly). It's a domestic thriller.

If you're interested in obtaining a free copy, please do sign up on our book club page and follow the instructions I posted up (to PM Alice, one of our HQ Local Team).

Thanks and happy reading.

My Cousin Rachel was very much enjoyed by our Film Club members on Thursday evening. Couldn't make it? We've got our next meet-up confirmed as 13 July. Join the discussion about what we should see here

With it nearly time for the school summer holidays to begin we will be taking a a brief interlude (mid July-beginning of September), but not before having another book group meet up on 12 July swiftly followed by a film group on 13 July!

Books up for discussion over a Wine or two are The Girls (Emma Cline) and The Trophy Child (Paula Daly). We are also challenged to suggest three of our favourite books for a summer reading bonanza!

Film yet to be determined but do make a suggestion if you'd like to join us and there's one you're just dying to see.

Thanks

Hi jacabag

Welcome.

I had the same problem yesterday - there was a glitch but pleased to report it's now fixed - you should be able to join the group and chat here.

Feel free to ask any questions on the book group meet-up page, on here or PM me.
