Barnet vs Haringey for secondary school

Hi I'm a newbie here and need some advice, my daughter is due to start secondary school sept 2017, I live in Wood Green (Turnpike Lane end) and was wondering what are the chances of her getting in to forismare or Highgate wood school from here? My ex husband lives in Barnet and we have joint custody so if she unlikely to get in to ether then he will apply within the Barnet area. Any help will be much appreciated

Check the LA rules about the child's usual address. I think, but am not sure, that the address the school application is made from should be the one which receives child benefit.

Hey thanks for replying, I'm not sure as we used my ex address when applying for my son who currently attends friern Barnet, as I lived in Tottenham at the time and they were fine because we have joint custody.

I'm just want to know is there any point using my address to try for forismare or Highgate wood? Or just use my ex Barnet address?

I think you won't get into Fortismere unless you live practically on top of it (typical catchment is half a mile). Highgate wood's catchment is around 1 mile typically so you're probably too far for that too. You can see the "furthest distance place offered" for the past few years on the Haringey admissions page and put your postcode into the tool for calculating your nearest schools' distance. I imagine Heartlands High is where most children from Wood Green go? I don't know much about it (my kids are younger) but I don't know about Barnet schools either.

Thank you, I didn't know about the tool, seems if I apply here our choices are not that good, I think I'll stick to my ex husband address in Barnet, the 3 main ones I was looking at in Haringey are all more then a mile away so DD not like to get into any 😢

You also need to check whether Haringey schools do out of borough applications.

Hello - unlikely/impossible to get HWS or Fort from where you are. You'd get Hornsey School for Girls as it's undersubscribed. Take a look. It's getting good results. this site will show you 'heat maps' for each school which show where children at the school live.

Hang on. She's due to transfer Sept '17. Didn't you apply and get offers already?
