Ravenstone School - Ofsted Update

It appears the Council is stepping in to make sure Ravenstone raises its standards after it's disappointing OFSTED report last year. This is from the latest Council meeting:

"at the end of the summer term 2014, a review undertaken by the school, the Local Authority and a supporting school found that there had been limited progress since the 2013 inspection and that approximately one-third of the teaching continued to require improvement or to be inadequate.

The review judged that the strategic leadership of the school was not yet strong enough to ensure that progress against the key Ofsted recommendations was being achieved at the pace needed to move the school to good.

At the start of the autumn term, the headteacher approached the Council seeking retirement from the end of the term, since when the Council has worked to put in place the Executive Headteacher arrangements whereby an outstanding headteacher who has already
successfully performed a similar role in another Wandsworth school will lead the school’s improvement in anticipation of an Ofsted re-inspection next year."

Oh dear. I thought the last OFSTED report found the school was taking the right action it wanted it to.

Anyone know who the new head is>

They have an interim Executive Head (Ann-Marie Grant) and Associate Head (Rachel Davies), both from St Michael's in Southfields. They are actively recruiting a new permanent Head.

This article doesn't reflect the efforts that the school has put in which really are making a difference. It is a lovely school with committed parents, teachers and governors who are working their socks off to get it back to where it should be.

It's a shame that Millington has (presumably) been pushed into 'early retirement' as few parents thought he was the problem. Ofsted singled out the governors for most criticism so that's where the personnel change is needed.

At least one of the governors has gone
