After reading this what do you think?
Is your children's school closing? Do you think the summit will be good for Newport overall?

DD's school is closed for the summit, we got an email last week about it. DS's school isn't, but is closed for inset days on the Monday & Tuesday of that week. It's not ideal - I'd prefer if they were both off the same days to be honest, so we could all do something together. DS's school bus travels along the M4 so I'm concerned about him travelling home on the Thursday in particular.

I don't know if the summit will be good overall - Newport can certainly do with a cash injection from the extra visitors, but I'm worried about the protesters who are planning on converging on the area. The picture I've attached is from Strasbourg 2009 - it's not something I'd want my children exposed to. And selfishly, I live close to the Brynglas tunnels so getting home will be horrendous

Thanks for your comments,
That is really awkward WeileWeileWeile, bad enough that the schools are closing but for one of yours to be open and the other closed that will be a nightmare, especially along that stretch of the M4.

It will probably be best to avoid any of the protest routes around that time, and hopefully the police force will manage the situation effectively.

It's going to bring a lot of mixed feelings since as you say the cash injection will be great for Newport, but it is going to bring a lot of disruption to peoples lives around that time. It's such a huge event though so will be very interesting to see how it goes!
