Shaldon Pirate Day - Saturday 25th May
The day aims is to raise funds not only for Children in Need but also a children and young adult hospice; further to invite the local community to celebrate such a beautiful and picturesque part of Devon. What better place to have a Pirate Day than right by the sea over looking the bay. The event will now be held on the main green and surrounding areas in front and adjacent to The Ness House Hotel in Shaldon, instead of Teignmouth, due to complications which were out of our control.
The Ness House Hotel is a Georgian property, built in 1810, on the outskirts of Shaldon village overlooking the Teign Estuary and only a stone?s throw from the beach. 20 yards away the Smugglers Tunnel can be found, leading you down to the secluded Ness Beach, sheltered by the Ness Cliff; where we will be holding a treasure hunt as part of event (timetable of events will soon be available).
The event is in its final stages of planning, but is planned to have a variety of activities happening. At present the day will consist of:
Treasure hunts, sword fencing demonstration & children?s sword tutoring activity, facepainting, stilt walker, magician, raffles, tattoos, nail art, food & refreshments ,stalls, shanty singing by ?The Storm?, acoustic singers, competitions, entertainment and a exciting new fundraising piracise activity for all (pirate outfits optional, but would be good, as this will be filmed, to then be broadcasted on this years Children in Need night).
Also Pudsey Bear and Captain Jack Sparrow will be joining the event. Further information will be available nearer the event. But for now, put the date in your diary and dust off your pirate clothing.
