Which is your favourite pie?

Thought I might as well start a PROPER Lancashire thread :-)

So, what pie flavour do you prefer?

I'm a butter girl myself. Bit obscure, and outsiders never understand it...the sheer stodge to it is awe inspiring, yet it manages to fit in all that butter too. The absolute best ones I have ever had were from a bakery on Liverpool Road in Penwortham.

In fact, I am going to see if they still exist, because if they do, I am totally listing them to give them an amazing review...

Meat and potato. Chunks of beef, not mince. A Hotpot imprisoned in pastry, in fact.

See, now this seems to be a sore point - does a hotpot have pastry? When I was growing up in South Ribble, it was about half and half (I used to go to events where a few people would bring hotpots from home) but others have acted with horror to the very suggestion...

I don't know whether it does, but a sliced potato top is the only way for me!

I like those game pies with layers of different meat, eaten cold with chutney.

Now I'm hungry....

Pastry top with a side of red cabbage. Tis the only way Grin

I see your butter pie and raise you a deep filled apple pie :)
