Yeah the ness board is always painfully quiet Sad

maybe because we're all busy clinging on to mn as a lifeline to the big world out there...

I suppose but I do sometimes wonder how many mnetters there are in the area. It's hard to tell since nobody really posts in local. I hear the huns local site is brimming though.

I've not heard many people mentioning mumsnet locally...a lot mention netmums though.

I did once find some people from Brodie/Nairn on a thread on here though :)

Yeah I get the impression from the schoolgate mums that they might prefer the fluffiness. It's a shame really...

I know of a few users out in the sticks but not many - maybe a name change to Highland is needed

Wallace · 16/10/2012 07:59

I have met a couple of local mnetters in RL, all of them lovely.

I do think we are few and far between.

Well this took me by surprise Grin agree that it's painfully quiet on here, maybe a highland board instead would be better - do you want to suggest to MNHQ? Smile

Report
Wallace · 16/10/2012 08:09

Highland would be better. Are any of us actually from Inverness itself?

Report
oricella · 16/10/2012 08:10

well, inveryverybadtaste, I have reported your post immediately Grin Of course that would mean we'd be honourbound to be more prolific posters...

Report
oricella · 16/10/2012 08:11

I mean, if they MNHQ change the name, we'll be honourbound etc...

InVeryveryBadTaste · 16/10/2012 08:15

Huh Oricella (affronted)
Grinnever been reported before- I'm quite chuffed tbh, that's pathetic isn't it?
And no, we're not in Inverness now. Are any of you?

Hello! MN are aware that the geographical distribution of the local boards isn't ideal, and are looking at improving the local function as we speak BUT I can probably take some credit for it being deathly quiet cos I'm a rubbish tsarina Blush

As Wallace says there are a few of us around but we're not very good at meeting up. Everything's so bloody far away!

Keep strong against the tide of tickers and sparkly shit though Grin

Grin... could have reported my own post, but with your name it was too tempting to use yours

not in Inverness either

The one MNer I knew who was actually in Inverness moved out of the town last year!

I reckon MNHQ will be open to suggestions, so does anyone have any specific suggestions? A Highland board might be better, I agree. At first I thought splitting Inverness into the city, the north west highlands and islands, north and then Nairn, Strathspey and Badenoch would make it easier to engage people but the more I think about it it may just be too quiet for that - I don't see that changing dramatically right now.

I think you're right in that having a few boards may make it even quieter. I'm liking the highland idea Smile

My address has Inverness at the end but I don't actually live in the city. Am in the sticks, just the not so far away sticks :)

KentuckyFriedChildren · 16/10/2012 17:12

Oh and yes I agree about changing it to highlands. It's such a huge area after all

Really hope not Smile

Other thread?

Report
KentuckyFriedChildren · 16/10/2012 17:25

Is that the one about the nasty Scottish people?

Report
InVeryveryBadTaste · 16/10/2012 17:27

did you not see it Wallace? The whole "scottish being too scottish" malarky, the uproar is caused etc etc etc.
Anyway a lot of people reported it (including me) and it spawned a whole new thread complaining about MNHQ's handling of it.

Anyway, on a brighter note would be good to have a highland threadGrin
