Singapore - Taylor Bee the place to be for furniture

Hi all,

Thought I would report back after the furniture thread. We went to IKEA yesterday and it was a bit soul destroying. However, today we went to Taylor Bee and it was amazing. The ladies there were so helpful and we've already ordered some stuff to be delivered on Monday. Much better quality and more interesting, and inexpensive too. I can't recommend it highly enough.

That is SO reassuring! Was it as difficult to find as everyone said? Good to know that there are affordable options other than Ikea!

How are you settling in? Does it feel good to be there?

Hi S

It wasn't too bad at all but then we were expecting to have trouble finding it. We got a cab and then asked someone working there where to go - you go up in the big goods lift. Once inside it's FAB!! We got some ace comfy chairs where each of us can sit with feet up (think large extended arm chair) with a boy each to watch DVDs and box sets (Merlin, Doctor Who etc). The boys were thrilled that we would be doing this lazy Sunday late afternoon thing here in Singapore too as it's become a special time at home.

We also got some great outdoor furniture for our little patio area. And they have lamps and mirrors and art work and all sorts.

Things are good thanks. We are trying to mix fun with chores this week. DH starts work on Monday and am a bit apprehensive as have boys (9 and 7) with me whilst trying to get things done but am sure we'll manage! The climate is my major worry but it's not as bad as I thought. Anyone know if these are the hottest months are is it pretty consistent?!!

When are you over S?

K xx

Sounds fantastic - will definitely head there when we arrive and start kitting out our place.

I am not moving over until October at this stage, but DH is starting work on 6 August, so he is heading off at the end of July. I am not very happy about having almost three months apart - and I don't think it's fair to the DDs - so think I need to come up with an alternative plan and try and sell it to DH!

Glad you are settling in well.....

Taylor B (its not bee!!) is at 43 Keppel Rd, 03-01/02, tel 8469 7705, theres no website, apparently you should call before you go as they may be away on a buying trip...

Can't believe I've never been there after living in Sing so long! a visit is due very soon!

Spelling: I remembered, I remembered! [smug face]

Have just stuck all this on a Word doc and sent to husband who is in serviced accomm having moved on Sunday, and was very flat-eared about costs of renting temporary furniture, and even more depressed at trip to Ikea.

He moves in to our place this weekend but our stuff won't arrive til Sep. Worth getting a few bits, he thinks, so will send on. Thanks!
