Life-limiting illness

Is it reckless to encourage my immune-suppressed friend to eat Dominoes pizza

She has been told to eat the most calorie rich diet she can - because she is losing weight.

I think I would also lose weight on hospital food. She has mentioned that she is craving pizza, but she was told to avoid takeaway food because of the risk of food poisoning.

I think takeaway food is a broad category - and things like buffets/ meat / kept warm hot dogs do pose a risk for food poisoning - whereas a cheese and tomato pizza made in front of you in a blasting hot oven at a 5* food hygiene chain restaurant and slipped straight into the box without anyone touching it is probably actually more sterile than the hospital pork chops and beany stews!

Just posting it on here to run it past people in case there is something fundamentally I am not thinking of before I suggest this to my friend.

Something like Dominos would be ok (I'd possibly stay away from chicken/prawn toppings though)
It's more for places where hygiene is less visible/food left for hours and reheated.
You sound like a great friend Flowers

I think you're right, pizzas don't really get handled once they come out of the oven, everywhere I've ever seen takes them out on a big wooden spatula thingy and pops them straight into the box. I was going to say that you were wrong, because pizza is too salty and oily unless you make it at home, but if she's craving it then she should have it.

Hi OP. You sound lovely!

Yeah Dominos should be fine.

They say no takeaway food incase you run off to the nearest 2* curry house and eat a dubious chicken tikka.

Dominos have some of the most sterile working environments I have seen (in industry) and you are right, it is likely to be just as, if not more hygenic than, a hospital kitchen.

Just avoid any meat products and you should be fine.

My mum was also advised to avoid raw veg (salads etc) on any restaurant food so maybe better if you're ordering toppings to avoid anything raw that would be put on the pizza after it's cooked (raw onions, basil etc). If it has gone into the oven it should be fine though. I hope she enjoys it. Flowers

I'm immunosuppressed and love a dominos Grin also happily eat McDonald's
Avoid dodgy chicken places and salad bar stuff and I eat Indian but only from one place as I know the hygiene rating etc

I'm also immunosuppressed and I confess to eating quite a bit of Domino's!
