my grandmother was on thyroid pills for 31 years - they did not slow her down
you'll be fine once it all settles and they get your dose right

Sorry to hear that. I have hypothyroidism - since I was 18, an 31 now. Several family members have it too.

The mefication really does help once the dose is right. I felt like I was in a slow fog before and generally feel pretty normal now. For me the worst part has been a struggle to lose weight gained pre diagnosis, but this isn't an issue for everyone.

It can help to read up on it - Living Well with Hypothroidism helped me - if that is what you have? Don't google too much, there are loads of things that can happen to thyroid that are scary and hypo has nothing to do with most of them. Eg I convinced myself I'd be infertile but has just put my 5 week old back to bed.

Be kind to yourself with gentle healthy living and lots of rest. If borderline too you may not need medication?

Hi. It's been 4 years since I found out my thyroid was under active. It was a relief to finally find out I wasn't going mad. The foggy brain, dizziness and extreme tiredness were awful. But gradually after a few months on daily thyroxine. It got a lot better. I have had a few issues with dosage after my dd2. But it has settled down again. I hope you start to feel more yourself soon.
