My sil is terminally ill wth very agressive colon cancer. She is having intravenious chemotherapy but is still working so is doing extremely well. Earlier this year her consultant told her she has a between 6 months to 18months to live. She wants to applied for fast track DLA but her GP is reluctant to sign the form because he says he believes she is going to live more than 6 months. Her macmillan nurse has also said that she will need to take various tests regarding how far she can walk and so on. I thought patients who had a terminal illness with a short time to live didn't have to go through all this?
Has anyone got any expereince of this? If she takes a turn for the worse in the next few months do we have any redress against her GP and Macmillan nurse.
