Can we get a refund?

Scottish MNers might be aware of Elfingrove and the horrific reviews it’s got on Facebook tonight.

I’ve paid over £50 for tickets and just wondered if there was any course for a refund based on how awful it clearly is per the hundreds of comments on Facebook.

I’d rather just have my money back and take my kids to the cinema.

It’s clearly been mid-sold!

A refund based on some random people on Facebook not liking it?

No chance.

Check your booking terms and conditions but I expect it will be no refunds.

I see there are literally hundreds of tickets online ... people trying to get shot of them..

Tbh I didn’t rate Glasglow much, don’t rate itison owner venues - he ruined epicures and Nicks. So why I scrambled to buy them I’m not quite sure - FOMO.

it's been totally oversold in both senses - hyped up beyond what it is and FAR too many people for each time slot but if you lower your expectations it's ok...

from what I've seen T&Cs are clear that you can't get a refund - and while it's been "mis-sold" it's not to the extent where you could actually go to trading standards IMO.

Horrendous. We've got tickets but we're not going.

We've got tickets for next week. The reviews make it look awful but we will go and see.

We can't get a refund due to t and c so may as well see how bad it really can be.

Maybe they'll add extra stuff with the media attention about it.

I managed to sell mine but at a bit of a loss - the loss would have been the cost of the train tickets up so I broke even kind of Confused

Actually the first thing I remember it being described as when it was first advertised was similar to Night At The Museum. I think they’ve latched on to the fact that the name Elfingrove worked with Kelvingrove and sounded good so just went with it even though from reviews it seems it’s not very festive at all. Probably just elves thrown in to make the name work.

It’s a shame because it could have been amazing and they’ve hyped it up so much.

They have address it and said on the whole the feedback has been positive or words to that effect and they will try and improve it

Some people are saying they managed to get their bank to refund them due to false advertising.

The reviews on twitter seem more possitive tonight.

I didn’t go... just not worth it with the weather as it is and a 2 year old!

Aww :(
We’re just going to go and see the lights up there next weekend if it’s dry and go for a meal. Think we will enjoy that more.

We have tickets for the end of the month. It was marketed as a "museum comes to life" event.

We went and it was absolutely rubbish. People saying “oh the kids enjoyed it so I’m happy”??! Yes but kids enjoy playing with empty boxes. Doesn’t make it value for money. I really feel for those who had to choose between this crap and another Xmas treat. Rudolph is actually a dinosaur (ok, that’s fun) and look he’s eaten some elves- their limbs are on the ground in front (a million questions from concerned 8 year old). Also, Santa saying “bugger off I need a pee”... WTAF?!
Other points-

  1. it’s Scotland in December. To have no heaters, no covered area to queue or decent shelter to eat the overpriced food is disgraceful.
  2. it’s pitch black. Some is going to fall down those stone steps inside
  3. to encourage people to go to a bar and then go into one of Scotland’s best art collections in the dark is irresponsible at best. Something is going to get damaged. People are drunk, have wet coats and are walking round dark rooms not watching where they are going.
  4. The rapping elf deserves a medal- absolutely cringeworthy crap.
  5. The ticket check process is inefficient at best. We queued early and missed our slot by 25 minutes.
  6. Disabled ramps are all broken already. This is unacceptable.

I was not expecting a grotto. It did not bother me that Santa wasn’t there. I love the art galleries. I can afford the tickets and to do other festive stuff. But this is a total joke.

Oh dear. I'm desperately trying to keep an open mind. But I think 80% of the reviews have been dreadful. If I could get my £80 back I would. What a waste of money.

It’s ridiculous that they can just say ‘no refunds’ - so can I advertise an amazing show in my back garden then sell tickets at £10+ a pop for my kids singing nursery rhymes and be like ahh no refunds, sorry!

Do consumer rights acts not apply to events then? Just products and services? Seems fishy to me.

Thanks for the review beepbeep. Doesn’t sound like they’ve made any improvements then!

I do wonder if anything will be done about it. I feel they most definitely have misled people and it really isn’t a cheap day out. It’s just short of cheap pantomime seats which is far more ‘christmassy’ I also feel the vendors outside and lights are probably on the same level as George square in terms of ambience! I do feel like something needs to be done and some sort of refund/fine.

Oh I also bought the Santa magical train ride at the transport museum, obviously not on the same scale but the reviews have also been awful!

So we went tonight and loved it. I'm genuinely wondering how on earth there is no many bad reviews for it.

We met some people we knew who were saying the same. We all went dreading it but loved it.

All the people interacted with our kids which made it more special for them.
