My mother moved into residential care just under a year ago - she has dementia. My sister is claiming that she was my mothers official carer and is living in our mothers empty house (my mother owned it freehold and is the sole owner on the deeds. There is no mortgage on the house) The family want to sell the house to pay for care home fees, but my sister says she has a right to live there as she was my mothers carer and the council will have to rehome her if we want to get her out to sell the house.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Any help really appreciated :)
