Can we dispose of this caravan?

DBro has a small parcel of land behind his house. Its in the middle of a built up area where parking is horrendous, so he has been renting it out to 2/3 cars as parking spaces for £10 per week.

Last August he was approached by a chap asking if he could park his caravan there over the off season. DBro said yes. The caravan moved on the first week in August and £50 rental was paid.

He then had no contact off the owner at all, no further rental was paid. He has texted a number of times, asking for rent, and the removal of the caravan, but had no response. He text in May saying that if contact was ot made he would dispose of the caravan.

In June, the owner rang and said he'd been "unavailable" since September, but would come up and sort it out. He turned up, DBro was not in and owner left a further £100 with SIL.

He has again made no contact since then, and despite ringing the mobile number, it is not being answered. It was answered a few weeks ago, and the person said he was the caravan owners son, and would pass the message onto his dad.

Dbro foolishly didn't get the chap to sign a contract, take any details beyond the phone number of the chap, so his other method of contact is the mobile number he has.

Can he text the mobile number stating they have 28 days to pay and then remove the caravan else he will dispose of it?

Look at the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1975 (think I'm right with the year). Think also it's s14 you need to look at if you want to sell abandoned goods. There's no substitute for reading the sections that apply and sticking to them rigidly.
