They really need to get a TV.

juuule Wed 02-Sep-09 12:23:33

And they have a grand-daughter due in October

Duggar family

I wonder how her body copes with it? Incredible!

Betty - there's nothing good on tv though, making your own entertainment is WAY more fun wink

I cant help but wonder how 'stable' the children are. I mean its all well and good beleiving in god but they are never experiencing life outside of their own community and will grow up to produce loads of children who will then grown up in that community. I just think that children should be allowed to experience life for themselves and make their own choices not have things thrust upon them (they dont even go to school and mix with people who are not from their religion). I am not slagging off religion, I'm all for having beleifs etc but I think this lot are just taking it totally too far. They make me angry that their children will grow and and just be baby making machines like their parents.

Rant over and Im sorry if I offend anyone but this is my view only.

why will their children follow suit?

if they do - then surely this indicates they have had a childhood they wish to replicate for their own dcs?

bargainhuntingbetty Wed 02-Sep-09 14:39:57

They will follow suit because it is expected that they will meet and marry someone in their own community just like the older son and his wife have done. I just dont think its fair thats all. Can you really see them being allowed to break away and go travelling the world etc??

juuule Wed 02-Sep-09 14:48:43

"Can you really see them being allowed to break away and go travelling the world etc??"

I can.

"they are never experiencing life outside of their own community "

Isn't that true for a lot of children?

bargainhuntingbetty Wed 02-Sep-09 14:53:52

Like I said this is just mu opinion, I am entitled to have one and as it is MY opinion I dont expect others to feel the same, I will perhaps keep my opinions to myself from now on.

MerlinsBeard Wed 02-Sep-09 14:54:49

holy cow !!

Scorps Wed 02-Sep-09 14:55:08

Ahh, the fabulous and original television comment.

Good for them, i say grin.

I know plenty of one/two/three child fmailies who have never left their county/country. Where i live, a mixed race child is rare; rarer still a child from a different religious background. No-one here misses out!

BoffinMum Wed 02-Sep-09 15:07:15

I am so inspired by this that despite the fact I am over 40, and suffer from SPD still, I am going to get DH to build me a permanent hoist so I can gestate away and produce another 16 offspring before my time is up, to beat their record.

BoffinMum Wed 02-Sep-09 15:07:57

Won't they run out of names beginning with J soon? hmm

sorky Wed 02-Sep-09 21:49:26

Juule are they HE do you think?

They must be surely.

I don't think they live isolated lives, infact I'm a wee bit envy

Imagine the love!

NotanOtter Wed 02-Sep-09 22:36:37

bargainhunting mummy are you taking offence?

DontCallMeBaby Wed 02-Sep-09 22:38:43

Wow. If their children followed suit they'd have 361 grandchildren. My parents and in-laws have one between them!

ilovesprouts Wed 02-Sep-09 22:40:32

daddy dugger needs to tie a knott in it wink 19 kids blimey

Ceolas Wed 02-Sep-09 22:41:24

omg I have just had number 5 and honestly I feel knackered. I don't know how she copes with pregnancy and birth so many times.

I think we're done

NotanOtter Wed 02-Sep-09 22:42:48

i said that after number 5 Ceolas

number 6 is a lovely boy wink

kinderfool Wed 02-Sep-09 22:44:02

The pics and descriptions on that site have that 'overly saccharine', slightly vomit inducing look that some Yanks seem to love (especially with the motivational words on the wall) but that's my only (rather pathetic) objection grin. If appearances are right it looks like the children are happy, well-cared for and the parents really cherish them so if there happen to be 19 of them then fine. Unless I've missed something they don't seem to have done it for government handouts (unlike some in the UK) so congrats to them!

Ceolas Wed 02-Sep-09 22:46:05

no, honestly, the labour was long and drawn out. Mentally it was so hard-going. I don't think I could go through that again. And the mws said it often gets worse shock

IrishDraught Wed 02-Sep-09 22:49:20

Aww congratulations to them , I love the Duggars!

NotanOtter Wed 02-Sep-09 22:51:20

what have you got now Ceolas? ( girls/boys)

Ceolas Wed 02-Sep-09 22:53:36

NotanOtter Wed 02-Sep-09 22:55:05

i am in love with ds4!
