third bedroom is 5 1/2 foot by 9 1/2 foot, with sloped ceiling (no room for bunk beds), too small for double bed, so We can't take the room. My 10 yr old girl is in there at the mo. My 2 boys age 4 1/2 & 6 are in the biggest room, but where do we put his kids on weekends & holidays? He has 2 GIRLS age 12 & 6 1/2. They don't fit in my daughter's room, can't share with my boys, and the boys can't have small room either as you can't put bunk beds in there. Council wont give us anywhere bigger, where do we put them??!! Should note OH about to move in when we resolve this issue.

I would say they have to sleep on a sofa bed downstairs or else there is no where for them to stay.
Can you not afford to rent somewhere bigger once OH moves in ?

my bil got a council transfer when he moved in with his girlfriend, he needed a letter from x-sil to say that he had shared custody of the boys, it took a while but got there in the end.

The boys used to sleep on a sofa bed in the lounge. they thought it was great.

Yes, brie, I'm sure you'd be perfectly happy to leave two unsupervised little girls outside all night, regardless of the weather .

Put them in your bed, Loudmouth, and get a sofabed downstairs.

His eldest HAS to have her OWN bed due to possible damage to her cochlear implant (baha box??) from her wriggly little sister! His first ex (OR her family) won't give him anything in writing about shared custody, nothing done thru court, as she will get less maintenance if she puts it in writing! Private rent for a 4 bed in my area is £1200 PCM...my current rent is £412 every 4 weeks! Council only gives out 1 house/child on basis of Child benefit book only, both his exes have council places on basis of his kids, therefore council will only give us larger house if one (or both) of his exes gives up their council place! Front room has to have dining table in, not even room to pull out sofabed! can fit 2 armchairs & a beanbag in front room, no sofa.

Where does he live at the moment? it really seems that you CAN'T fit them in...perhaps he should stay living where he is until his children are older?

or could the eldest daughter have a sleeping bag on the sofa and the youngest have a readybed on the floor of your sons' room?

Could you get one of those beds that zip to make a double and have them as twins for the girls to sleep in your room? You on sofa bed when they stay?

This would be a solution but I would think carefully about setting out to be turfed out of your bed when they stay, DH and I did this for 3 years to accomodate visits from DSD, but it is wearing and did impact on my attitude to the stays (my bad, I know!).

Ready beds in the living room?

Council should take into account step-children so long as your dp has shared custody - they did with my friend anyway (maybe each council is different?)

My suggestion as i have a three bed with 4 kids. When the 2 girls visit swap around put your 6 yr old boy in small room and the other in 2 bunk beds (4 year old is ok with girls to sleep).

Or buy a bunk bed and cut off the legs so that the bottom bunk is on the floor. This may work in the small room. You could put both boys in there when girls visit.

Or 2 toddler beds back to back, by 7 year old still fits on one.
