Larger families

As a large family would you feel awkward

I have one dc but we have friends coming for a get together who have 4, were recent friends so dont have a history to know this

As they're coming pre Christmas i wanted to get their dcs a small token from us talking chocolate santa and a small activity book each.

I know from conversations that weve had that are not in a position to reciprocate and that is absolutely fine by me.

Would you as a larger family feel awkward if someone did this?

Not at all op, but really, I'd find it very hard to believe that they couldn't even afford to buy your child a chocolate santa or a Christmas goodie bag (I've seen them in Primark for less than £2)

You're doing a lovely thing. Not many with 4 get invited for get togethers Smile

Why don't you just get 5 and say it's something for them to do together with your child? Make it an activity for the day whilst they're at your house.

Mrs car- theyre in a difficult work situation at the min so i know theyre in a hard situation and its fine.

Pink - ive made some activity bags for them already to do together, ive made some pompom snowballs for an indoor snowball fight and weve got a xmas movie and were moving the furniture and using dhs projector to make a cinema so im hoping that keeps them busy Xmas Smile

That sounds lovely.
You could always give them the gifts as they're leaving, a bit like a party bag, giving the parents no time to feel awkward.

Really? I have four; we're not a charity case. We get plenty of invitations thank you.

Well I have 3 and we used to get invited to a lot more family get togethers when we had just one or two. I understand that.
Likewise, I'd be slower to invite a family of 6 to my house.

I hardly meant that they were a 'charity case', what an over reaction 🙄
