Does anyone else have a similar gap?

We currently have 4 dds between 8 and 13.
We’ve always talked since dd4 was born about trying for another two after a bit of a gap.

We’ve been talking more seriously about it recently - I don’t want to be trying to conceive or to be pregnant much older than I am at the moment.

However, I’m beginning to wonder if we’ve left it too late.
I’m mainly worried about how it will affect the girls to have such a massive change when they’re already going to be dealing with going to secondary and becoming teens.

So has anyone else done similar and how did your older children deal with it?

When my youngest was born my older four were 16, 14, 10 and 8. To be honest number five was a happy accident but it was blissful enjoying a baby whilst not having to wrangle other little ones.
If there has been a downside it's that dd has always been like an only child as her needs were so different and her older siblings moved out in rapid succession so she went from being part of a large family to being in a very small family and she struggled with that so we got her a dog

It’s brilliant to hear a positive story, Flesh 😊

I grew up with a big age gap between my db and I and found it lonely which was why we’re hoping to have two quite close together if we do go ahead with it.

Did you find it difficult to make sure your older children got enough attention and one to one time while your dd was small?

How did it affect family holidays and days out?
We’re quite an active and outdoorsy family and I feel like we’ve only just got to a point where everyone can join in and and enjoy themselves equally.

Mine the ages are 1, 9,10,13,19,23
We are not actively trying for another but would be quite happy if it happened. Others are all fine, have their own activities etc and also get the chance to be silly and young too...it works fine as they all know that the others had to put up with them when they were little. I'd say go for it!

My eldest is nearly 18 and my younger two are 8 and 7. We have been ttc #4 for a year.

There were lots of positives with a 9 year gap, and it can’t have been that bad as I’m willing to do it again😂

I have an 11 yr old and an 8yr old and a 6 month old. Less children than you, but thought I would add that the age gap of 8 years is fine so far!!! My older 2 love helping with the baby and it has felt like a family adventure having another baby!
