Any positive stories or words of wisdom? Im on my 14 cycle now ttc #1, all tests have come back normal and I know my age isn't on my side (40) but it's disheartening with the unexplained infertility. The dr says i am ovulating, Im generally healthy we dtd at the right time, but why is nothing happening?? At this point I would even welcome a chemical pregnancy at least then I know something's working! It's the not knowing why which is so frustrating Sad
Anyone else in the same position as me?

Not in the same position but unexplained generally means that they haven’t found what is wrong not that nothing is wrong. Would you consider moving on to fertility treatment as it’s been a year and has your husband also been tested?

Hi @Crumpets124, so yeah we have to now consider IVF which has to be self funded and OH has been tested and all is normal for him too.

That’s a pity about self funding - are you not eligible for any NHS funding? I can’t understand how some people get 3 and others nothing! Although I’m in Ireland so there is no funding full stop so I know how expensive it can be!

I’ve just heard of some couples having success first time with IVF with an unexplained diagnoses so it’s worth considering moving on to it. Especially given your age.

Unfortunately I've just missed the cut off age (39) to be eligible for IVF funding in my area.

Unfortunately at age 40+ it's very much a waiting game - over 40 and science suggests 70% of eggs are abnormal and over 43 that increases to 90% - so it's just going to take a bit longer to catch that "good" egg - I'm sure I read somewhere within 2 years x

I conceived on cycle 15 of active ttc. Before that had been casually not trying not preventing for 1 year+. Before I got my bfp I started looking at my diet and went on keto. My diet had been pretty crap before that, containing lots of refined carbs and sugar. My first bfp ended in mc, but continued on keto and was put on letrozole as well. I went on to get another bfp just few months later! I was 36 at the time, so not a young girl either. And oh yea, had been diagnosed with slight pco as well as a polyp in my uterus.

Ho @Jmommy! Congrats on your bfp! Well I'm type 1 diabetic, so I'm not on a complete keto diet but I am conscious of the carbs and sugars I eat, I exercise daily, don't smoke and rarely drink. I've exhausted everything I can think of to do/not to do and just come to the conclusion that if it happens, it happens. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We'll also be looking into self funding IVF.
