hydroxychloroquine question

I am being prescribed this on my next FET due to 2 miscarriages previously. My consultant has said I am to take it from embryo transfer however reading online, it seems to say it needs to be taken 6-8 weeks prior. I just called the clinic but the consultant said he hasn’t heard of this and the information available to him is from transfer. I asked if they had success from this and I’ve been told yes.

Anyone been on this and can confirm when you took it from? Thanks

Hi OP, I'm on hydroxychloroquine and I've been on and off it for years (for auto immune reasons) and yes I've always been advised it takes at least 6 weeks to get in your system and have an affect. I'm on it now and also take prednisolone to try and control my over active immune system (two prev miscarriages) 2.5 years TTC.... currently waiting for my first IVF consultant meeting. I'd def go back to the clinic and ask the consultant to prescribe it now. I've never had and side effects from it, it's considered a pretty standard innocuous DMARD. Good luck xx

Thanks for your reply @yorkshireteaspoonie yes I can see from looking online it says 6 weeks. The thing is the consultant won’t budge on it an I even asked could I just go on it anyway during the weeks before we start the protocol but they have refused. He said if I could send him the research, he will look into it but I can’t find anything ‘official’

@Mctm123 gawd that's a bit shit putting the onus back on you! The internet is filled with NHS trust guidance documents on it that details the use/ effectiveness such as this one I've pasted below ... can you find one published by your own trust online?

You might want you most this question on the autoimmune boards as there will be many more users taking hydroxychloroquine on those boards and one of them might have the evidence you're looking for x

I know you would think paying privately surely he should be willing to take into consideration my concerns! I am going to email him that link thanks a lot for that. I’ve found another couple of things too so I’ll send them over and go from there. Thanks for taking the time to help!! Appreciate that Smilex
