Hi everyone so... I’m just waiting for my period to start, (due Thursday) and then I’m having FET, I just wondered if anyone could tell me how it works? ( like how many appointments il be looking at going too) She’s mentioned I need to call the day I start my period then I will need to come in the next day, I can’t remember if she said for bloods or scan, I’m just a little worried if I need to go for a few morning appointments because work or family don’t know I’m going through all this 🙈

Hi @Stacey2007 I think the clinics can all use slightly different protocols. This is the one we had:-

Long protocol FET with down regulation

Day 1 First day of period- call clinic to advise period started
Day 21 start buserelin injections to ‘turn everything off’
Day 37 Attend for scan to check lining thin and ovaries quiet- start oestrogen patches every other day to build up lining again
Day 47 Attend for scan to check lining has thickened
Day 52 Add progesterone pessaries to prepare lining for ET
Day 57 Embryo transfer

So only 2 scans and no blood tests but it took a reaaaalllllly long time to do the whole cycle. Your clinic may well do things differently. Ours had a helpline for questions so maybe you can ring them and check a rough schedule? Good luck 🍀

Sorry I should have mentioned I’ve already gone through the long protocol, but when I had egg collection I had 32 eggs collected and he said I might be ill ( I was) so we had to freeze them and transfer them at a later date, that later date is after this period

Is it a managed down reg or a natural cycle with transfer after ovulation?

It’s natural cycle

I did that, but a while ago. I had a scans at about 10 days and 13days, then an injection to trigger ovulation (because I was always naturally later than day14!). Embryo taken out of storage and defrosted after day 12 scan. Embryo transfer day 15, progesterone pessaires for the next 6 weeks.

He's now nearly a teenager though, so it might have changed... good luck!

I recently went through a semi-natural cycle FET (with progesterone pessaries). I had to call the clinic on day 1 of my cycle, then come in for a scan on day 2 to check lining thinness, then another scan around day 11 to check the lining was getting nice and thick and see what my follicles were up to. At that point, I was booked in for transfer, which was on day 17 for me. I ovulated naturally but if I hadn't, they would have given me a take home trigger injection to do before transfer. All in all, three morning visits were needed, and they were all fairly short. Hope that helps and good luck!
