Think I’m miscarrying

I’m 6 weeks pregnant - first round of ivf - and past few days I’ve had spotting every morning. I’ve got an early scan next wed and they’ve basically said I just have to wait til then. It could be just spotting or it could be start of miscarriage. My gut says it’s a miscarriage - I never had any spotting with my first. It just feels so cruel to get a positive from ivf and then be stuck here in limbo again. I think I’d braved myself for a negative on testing day and now feel completely wiped out. I know there is nothing I can do but wait and cross everything but I just feel so emotional - wish I could take whole week off work but that’s not an option. Just needed to vent. Now off for a little cry somewhere!

When I went for my blood test to confirm (I'd already had positive hpt), the nurse was surprised I hadn't had any bleeding. It's far far more common in ivf pregnancies, apparently. Unfortunately, it is a waiting game.

Be kind to yourself and do what you need to do to get through to your scan.

Spotting is extremely common, so try not to panic. Thinking of you, take care.

@Littlelot sorry you are worried I had the same but then went on to have a bigger bleed and was told I’d have to just wait for my scan which is tomorrow I know I’m no longer pregnant and the clear blue digitals have gone from 3+ to 2-3 and now 1-2 so just waiting for confirmation! But as others have said spotting is completely normal so there is every chance you are fine!! I think the waiting for the scan is the hardest part! I have my fingers crossed for you xx

I had a failed fresh and mc’d FET - had spotting.

Had the same spotting with my second FET who’s now teething. I also bled at 6,7,8 and 10 weeks with him.

Are you on progesterone pessary? It can irritate the cervix. I had some spotting I can only describe as squashed blueberry like unlike i could stop them at 12 weeks.

It’s so cruel but it really can go either way. Flowers

Thank you all for your messages - it’s reassuring to know that it’s more common in ivf and maybe due to pessaries. I’ve actually found being at work helpful today nothing like a class full of 25 teenagers to take your mind off things.

It does feel like one long wait after another. Trying to stay positive as well as prepare for the worst at same time. I’m so lucky to have a brilliant head who has said today that I can take whatever time I need.

I really appreciate all the messages and support though - don’t know anyone in real life who has been through this. Thank you!!!!

Hi OP-I had a miscarriage at between 6-7 weeks -I did have a touch of spotting but only two instances and very mild. I went to an Early Preg Unit -my clinic wouldn’t scan early but the EPU will scan and blood test you so I would try to find your local one if you are worried. I went to mine and they took bloods which showed the preg wasn’t progressing well so I stopped my meds. But blood doesn’t always mean it’s not viable. Good luck.
