First Time IVF/Low AMH/Low Follicles...anyone else out there?

Hello Ladies!

I'm 34, this is my first go at IVF.I had my fallopian tubes removed when I was 25 and feel like I have had every test and procedure going! I've been through years of infertility counselling and thought that I was very well prepared for this but wowser it's been such an eye opener now I am here, living it!

My cycle started on the 24th May with Norethisterone tablets. I'm on day 9 of my stim injections now which have been 225 Menopur and 0.5 Fyremadel. I have had various different AMH levels in past (a bit yo-yo effect) however after having had my 2 scans to check follicles it's been confirmed that I have low volume ovaries. I am currently sporting 3 "of size" follicles (Wednesday was only 2 which was a challenge of a day!) but luckily the one I named "little un" pulled through and has grown enough to be used. They are currently 19mm, 21mm and 17mm. My Egg Collection is planned for Monday :-)

I'd love to know where you all are in your journeys xx

Hey. I haven't started yet just had my baseline scan today and I only have 9 follicles in total so the lady doing the scan said that not great :( so I guess I'll be in a similar boat to you when the time comes. We should hopefully start treatment in October time. Do you mind me asking how many folices they saw on your baseline scan before stim? Thanks x

Hello!! I think I'm in the same boat. I am 1st time ICSI. I had 12 follicles at amh scab and on a short protocol. At my last scan yesterday I had 1 in zone, 2 which should be in zone by collection scheduled on Wednesday and a hope and a prayer for a couple of more. So disappointed that I haven't responded better. But as my DH keeps telling me, it only takes 1. Quality over quantity. So glad I'm not the only one out there. When are you due for collection?

@BellaD85 sorry just seen you were collecting today. How did it go?

If you have low response I'd recommend DHEA supplements if you need another round. Good luck this time!

Hello @glitterbugsparkles and @Mseddy!

Keep up the faith with your follicles!! I now have good news story to share - last week was a super low for me...and here I am!

I had my EC yesterday and they got 5 follicles all of a good size!! I had my first scan on Wed last week and they could only see 5 in total and only 2 were anywhere near the size they needed them to be...I was distraught!! Friday I had 3 of size and then yesterday they collected all of them!! I got a call this morning to say that they were all fantastic quality and have all fertilised!!

There is still hope, I really was beside myself thinking that we were going to get none and now we have 5! Hopefully they will all make it to my ET on Saturday and we can put some in the freezer...fingers crossed! It really is quality!!

@Mseddy I had 8 follicles at my baseline scan before stims. Have they talked to you about low volume ovaries? I stimmed for a total of 12 days so might be worth talking to your consultant? Fingers crossed for your next scan :-)

@glitterbugsparkles fingers crossed for your collection on Wednesday. Are you still stimming? I had a day free of all injections on Sunday and was in at 9.30am yesterday. The HCG trigger is meant to give you that final boost and in my case it did so hopefully it will for you too!!

@HavelockVetinari thanks for the tip on supplements! I was taking a conception brand by Pregnacare :-) Hopefully we are lucky with this round but we will see!

Are you in the middle of a cycle also?

Yes, I got a BFP yesterday stronger today but I'm now bleeding heavily so think it's over unfortunately. Next time, hopefully!

@BellaD85 thank you hun! I think the trigger did help, from the potential 5 they managed to get 8 out today. Just waiting to hear how many make it through. So glad to hear that all yours fertilised, that's tremendous news.
Very pleased to be injection free. Felt v strange yesterday not injecting.

Hi Bella, I've just started the infertility 'journey' and I found out yesterday I have relatively low follicles, and I should find out my AMH today. I'm also 34. Best of luck to you!

@glitterbugsparkles That's FANTASTIC news!! Have you had news on fertilisation yet?

I'm booked in for my ET tomorrow...very nervous! We were called yesterday and they said that we have 1 x Grade 1, 1 x Grade 2 and 3 x Grade 3 so we are thankful that they have all turned into something!

@BudgieBird Hello! I hope your AMH test goes well, will you be going through the NHS or private for your treatment?

The NHS were a little apprehensive to go ahead with IVF and gave me less than a 10% chance. We went private and they have me a 50% chance and the results have been incredible so far!!

I hope everything goes well for you :-) These forums are great for finding out information. Also if you have any questions about anything then i'm happy to answer them for you :-)

We always had five follicles or fewer and have two kids from four cycles. It really can work.

@BellaD85 I'm going private. My AMH came back as 1.13 ng/mL - low end of acceptable, my doctor said, but acceptable. Trying to not drive myself mad.

@QuickRedFox That's so nice to hear, we all need the success stories to keep us going!!

@BudgieBird Keep the faith! If you find a good Dr and clinic then trust in them! I thought my chances were extremely slim with my AMH however we took the Dr's advice and our results have been better than I expected! Also look at @glitterbugsparkles another great result! It really is quality over quantity! I scoffed at that phrase so much and always thought "yeah it's alright for you Miss follicles" but when it comes down to the science of it all it's right!! Which part of the country are you in if you don't mind me asking? Have you found a clinic yet?

@glitterbugsparkles I hope all is well with you :-)

I had my ET yesterday, they put 2 back as we ended up with a Grade 1 (which they said was lovely!) and then a Grade 2 that had the cells of a Grade 3 (I got a bit confused at all the letters and numbers she was saying at me all in one go!). They said the Grade 2 probably wouldn't survive the freezer so recommended having them both in to up our chances......and possible twins eeekkk!! The others didn't make it but we feel blessed to have got 2 Embryo's from the cycle. Nothing to go back to but i'm feeling positive.

@glitterbugsparkles Good luck for tomorrow! It's all over and done with very quickly so don't worry...just like having a smear. See if you can get a picture when they do the scan! I did.....looks like there is a dragon in there with them tee-hee!

@BellaD85 that is so great you got a photo. We joked about it but actually didn't. Was so fab to just see it go in! Now to relax and stop worrying for 2weeks. Super hard!

@glitterbugsparkles Woohoo the 2WW!! How are you feeling so far? Do you have any nice plans in this time? I've taken an extra few days off work to relax as had a bit of spotting. Clinic seem ok, not upped my dose or anything and don't want to see me to trying to take it as a good sign!! Read everything that Google had to offer and i'm hoping it's implantation bleeding and my 2 little eggies have just had a party in my womb and caused a bit of a stir ha! x
