Sperm analysis back- 2% morphology

Hi everyone. It's my first time posting on this board although I've been on the 'conception' board for a while. My partner and I have been trying for about 14 months and just got our initial results back. All of my blood tests have come back normal except that I tested positive for a past hep infection- I need another blood test just to confirm this but no evidence that it is a current infection and it shouldn't affect fertility.

My partner's SA was all in normal range except morphology- 2%. The GP on the phone (not his usual GP) was quite causal about it and didn't even really explain what it was. He just said that a subset of the test came back slightly low but that it was probably 'just experimental noise'. I asked my partner to get a print out which is how we discovered what his result actually was. The comments on there state 'consider referral to specialist fertility clinic if appropriate'.

NICE guidelines state that if any element of the test is suboptimal, he should get tested again in three months. Apparently the GP neither suggested this or said he shouldn't- he's left it up to us which I find a bit weird. The whole point of going to the doctor is for some expert advice. Anyway I'm assuming the best next step would be for dp to go to GP again and discussing having another sperm test in three months time? Dp is being very non-committal about it and seems to just want us to keep trying but I think this needs to be investigated further- whilst we keep trying of course. Any thoughts?

When we had our initial fertility tests my GP was waiting for all of my results plus dh then he would refer us onto the fertility clinic. It took some badgering for this to happen. I'd go back and say you want to be referred now.

My dh's results had one skughtky lower than average, think it was motility and he was advised to take wellman conception. We did conceive on cycle 16 but that unfortunately ended in mmc.

Good luck.

I would recommend your husband tries proxeed for 3 months. My husbands first sperm analysis came back as 0% normal morphology and he was recommended to take it for 3 months and then book a retest as it has been shown to help with morphology issues. Three months later I was pregnant after a year and a half of trying!

My DH has 2% morphology and we are doing ICSI IVF privately - NHS wasn't too concerned as he had really High count but private clinic advised ICSI x

Our GP was completely incompetent in any fertility issues. IVF clinics in the UK usually do not have male fertility experts at all. Get your GP to retest and if abnormal I'd go to a male fertility urologist / andrologist. We had to self fund so went straight to Mr Ramsey. If everything else is normal morphology alone shouldn't cause much problem. So hopefully you might need some supplements and will conceive naturally. Good luck!

DH has low morphology and we had to have IVF to have DS.

I also recommend you go and see Dr Ramsey.

I'd also recommend Proxeed. DH has a similar result and after 6 weeks on Proxeed I was expecting our now 3 month old. Also DH was advised to cut out caffeine and alcohol. Good luck.

We had Condensyl for 3 months, which isn't cheap but improved our IVF results. Also omega 3, zinc, D

My DH improved his morphology by 3% doing the following:

No caffeine
No alcohol
Well man tablets
Vit C tablets
Increase fruit and veg
Stopped cycling
Stopped saunas and hot tubs

Good luck!

My husband’s just came back at 1% morphology. We can’t afford ivf and we don’t qualify on nhs so any other supplements we can try, let me know.

Hi @goldflakepaint just wondering if you have since conceived? My husband has also received an SA result of 2% morphology
